A traditional cotton batik textile from the countryside of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, India, created through a slow wax-resist process practiced by skilled artisans.

Each piece is built layer by layer: wax is applied by hand, the fabric is dyed, the wax is removed, and the process is repeated to create the final multicolor design. The combination of waxing, dyeing, and removal creates the characteristic depth and variation that makes handmade batik unique.

A single piece involves approximately three artisans over several days of work, from preparing the design to completing the repeated dye stages.

This square textile features a central Om motif surrounded by a detailed mandala-style border in rich jewel tones with metallic accents.
