The Doors Are Open — Welcome to Namaste Nook
Namaste Nook began long before there was a website.
It began while traveling through India — walking through markets, stopping at small shops, talking with sellers, touching fabrics, comparing colors, discovering incense near temples, and finding objects that made me stop and look twice.
Some things were beautiful. Some were useful. Some carried a tradition or a story I wanted to understand better. And some simply made me smile.
Those are the things I brought home.
Personally selected, not selected from a catalog
“Personally selected” is an important part of Namaste Nook.
I don't mean that every object is handmade, rare, antique, or produced by a single artisan. India has enormous textile traditions, workshops, family businesses, manufacturers, market sellers and generations of merchants working side by side.
What I mean is much simpler: I was there. I chose it.
I handled the scarves before buying them. I looked through colors and patterns. I wandered through markets and shops. I bought incense from temple-side businesses in Varanasi. I found pieces because something about their texture, usefulness, workmanship, color or story made them worth bringing back.
There is a person between the marketplace and this shop — and that matters to me.
More than a product page
Namaste Nook will always be a shop, but I don't want it to become only a grid of products and prices.
A rudraksha mala deserves more than “108 beads.”
A textile can lead us into printing, weaving, embroidery, regional traditions and the sometimes-confusing world of natural and synthetic fibers.
Incense has histories, ingredients and ways of being used that don't fit neatly into a product description.
And sometimes there is simply a story about where something was found.
That is why this Journal exists.
I'll use it to share pieces of the journey behind the collection: textiles and craft, ritual and sacred objects, care guides, things I learn along the way, and stories from the places where Namaste Nook finds begin.
The collection will keep changing
Namaste Nook isn't meant to be an endless warehouse of identical merchandise.
Some things can be sourced again. Others may appear once and never return. Colors change. Market finds change. Trips change. And my eye changes too.
That is part of the Nook.
The shop opening today is only the beginning of the collection. There are still pieces waiting to be photographed, stories waiting to be written, and things I haven't found yet.
For now, the doors are open.
